Good news, folks. Good news.

I thought all hope was gone when it came to me to teach.
Seriously.
Since our economic status in our country is so fantastic, budget cuts mean job loss.
In school districts, that means filling positions within the district.
That meant me spending a summer without any hope or belief that I would get a job.
I kept getting let down, that I decided to not even care anymore.
It got so bad that I had PRAYED to just get a call or an interview just to signify acknowledgment of my application(s).

You might ask, "Julie, why not move to a more populated area, like Phoenix?"
Here is my answer:
My husband has a friggen great job.
Leaving would be stupid for that reason, for the fact that teachers make half of what Steven can make.
AND, even getting a teaching job one year doesn't guarentee you will have it a year later...

So, we are down to school starting in 2 days here in Prescott.
I got a call from a family friend/principal at a school needing a PE teacher.

You might think, "PE?  But Julie, you want to be a classroom teacher."
Yes, you are right.
That is my goal.
A goal obviously unattainable at this point in time.

This morning, I interviewed.
Great interview.
45 minutes long.
It was great.
I got to express how and why I am 'physically minded' and why I feel qualified to teach kiddos about physical education.

My response??
And it is the truth:
Since I had my thyroid removed, I have become more physically aware.
You don't know what you have until it is gone, or when it stops working...
I have to work like 4 times as hard as anyone else...(5+ miles a day for 3 months and have lost maybe 4 pounds).
I appreciate the human body.
And I have developed a passion (addiction) to running.

I guess it worked!
I got the call at 3:32 pm today.
It is official.
I am the PE teacher at Washington Traditional School!
And if funding goes through, I will be teaching some math as well.
And it is a foot in the door...
Now they can internally transfer me if(when) funding for specials is gone.

Downside??
School starts Wednesday!
Check it out.

Dance Dance Dance.

Click the link.
Do what my comments say to do.
Don't question me.
Just do it.
You won't regret it.
I promise.
And here is this, just for fun:

Excuses

The last couple weeks have been fantastic.
The 4th of July was awesome.

Not only did Emily and I wear these GEMS(mine was a gift from her for spending 8 hours painting her house)  to the parade,
I hosted a 4th of July/Birthday party for my FIL(father-in-law).
The best part?
We sat on lawn chairs and watched the fireworks from my front yard.
Excellent.

As for the other 14 days that have been un{blog}-accounted for??

Yes, I have been playing this stupid game obsessively.
I am horrible at it.
I have yet to win one game.
But it is so fun!
If you haven't played, DO IT.
It is basically Scrabble.

Other things that I have been up to?
Running. Alot.
Pulling weeds.
Couponing.
Nephews.
Test driving/buying a new car.
Cleaning the garage now that Emily's crap is out of it.
Having allergic reactions to laundry soap in incredibly awkward places.
Yeah...life is good.

PS-I turn 25 on Saturday.

The youngest one in curls?

Disclaimer: I look like a foot in these pics. Sorry.

So a few months ago, my hair started acting weird.
I couldn't keep it straight.
The roots were kinky.
I kept complaining about it because my hair has always been straight.
Now with monsoons and humidity, it can now be seen.
And after a shower (after a 6 mile run), I let it dry naturally.
Results:

I know I am wicked sexy.
Its obvious...

Ding Dong!

I live in Arizona.
It is hot.
And dry.
So I have to water my garden.
While walking towards the sprinkler, I tripped in a hole that is home to a sprinkler head.
My stupid right ankle was throbbing in pain.
I got some ice and took some brofine(ibuprofen) and sat down on the couch.
LOOK:

Already swelling!

About 10 seconds after, my door bell rang.
I was hesitant.
Usually it is Jehova's witnesses.
But I got up, and to my surprise, the sweetest thing was on my door step:)

Needless to say, this made my day.
I am so glad to be teaching primary in my new ward!
Thank you!

Bored. Blood. Boooooo

Besides homemaking, gardening, and running, I have not had much to do.
Usually I spend time with my nephews; chasing them around Sam's Club without pants:

But today, my venture at the mall play-place turned in to an experience.
You see, my sister, April is really good at talking me in to things.
Today, she talked me in to donating blood.

Let us rewind 7 years....
I had organized blood drives for my Young Women Recognition project(s) at 15-16 years old.
Finally, when I turned 17, someone else in my ward had organized a blood drive and I decided to do it!
First time....
Needle burst out of my arm and blood squirted everywhere.
I got poked at least 5 more times after that.
I even found this awesome pic in my archives of awesome to show:

Not only were my clothing choices excellent, I also looked like I enjoyed shooting up heroin.
Since that occasion above, I found out that I am blood type O- which is very good.
But I never gave blood since.
It was a bit traumatic.

Fast forward to NOW...
April?
In and out in 10 minutes.

ME??
40 minutes after being hooked up to the needle, I finally filled my 600 mL.
40 freaking minutes!

They were going to pull it out at 400mL because I had stopped pumping blood...was I dead?
But if I didn't make the 600mL, it would be good for nothing and thrown away.
But I persisted, withstood the twisting of the needle countless times in my vein, lost feeling in my entire arm, and turned a gross shade of green.
BUT I MADE IT!

And apparently I will have saved three lives!

YAY for summer adventures?
PS: once the bruises have set in, I might post some more.
They said it might bruise from my shoulder down to my wrist.
But I am still going running tomorrow:)

Another Hunger Games post

I was just thinking about the Capitol and the creepy people that live there.
They die their skin.
Have gold tattoos on their face.
Any color of hair is possible.
They are the the epitome of gluttony.
And I really want to hear the movie's interpretation of their accent.

I have an idea for the movie.

Yeah.
Lady Gaga needs to be in the movie.
I don't think Lady Gaga is a poop/psycho like the Capitol nuts.
She is actually the opposite of them.
She rules.
But the way she looks is how I imagine the Capitol-folk looking.
Awesome, that is.
